ISIS fighters released from jail in Afghanistan may be heading to the Middle East, a defense official warns. Islamic State terrorists could threaten Israel from Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula, the unnamed source told The Jerusalem Post.

Israel also fears that advanced weapons captured by the Taliban will be transferred to terror groups on Israel’s northern and southern borders, the security official said.

Defense analysts say that the recent events in Afghanistan will elevate the risk of terror attacks worldwide. Many more suicide bombings are expected in Afghanistan and will spill over to neighboring states, Israeli expert Anat Hochberg-Marom predicted.

The threat level is on the rise again 20 years after the 9/11 attacks, as the earlier decline in global terrorism is being reversed, she told Kan News.
