Israe’s cutting-edge spy satellite Ofek-16 is now fully operational, the Defense Ministry announced Sunday.
Following the successful completion of a series of tests, the Defense Ministry handed over Ofek-16 to Unit 9900, the IDF’s geo-intelligence force. As part of the tests, the satellite produced high-quality photos under diverse scenarios.
Previously, Ofek-16 sent images from key locations such as Syria. But now the IDF can use its full capabilities to acquire pinpoint intelligence. The new satellite, launched into space in July, is fitted with an advanced camera and can cover any spot in the Middle East every 24 hours.
