Gantz to Discuss ‘Urgent’ Iran Issues in US Visit

Dramatic developments on Iran front? Defense Minister Benny Gantz will discuss “urgent” Iran issues during his visit to Washington.

The discussions will address new intelligence information and developments on the Iranian front, N12 News reported. Israel wants to coordinate joint activity against Tehran with Washington, the report added.

N12 notes that Iran has already resumed its cooperation with North Korea, after the arms embargo on Tehran expired this week.

US, Israeli army chiefs speak

Defense Minister Gantz departed last night to Washington to meet US Secretary of Defense Mark Esper. Before leaving, Gantz said that he will be discussing key issues pertaining to Israel’s security in the coming years. No further details were provided.

Gantz is scheduled to visit Washington for just 10 hours before immediately returning to Israel, as security tensions rise on several fronts. Prior to his trip, Gantz and Netanyahu discussed undisclosed security issues.

Meanwhile, IDF Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi spoke via video conference with his counterpart General Mark A. Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The two discussed “current security issues in the Middle East,” the IDF said without elaborating.
